All works of alteration required Listed Building Consent and this involved delicate negotiations with the statutory authorities. The enlargement of the kitchen area to provide a full-sized catering kitchen needed very heavy structural alteration, together with the introduction of large-volume mechanical ventilation. The college’s needs have been met in full- kitchen, controllable lighting, ventilation, heating, AV and the reinstatement of the library shelving to its original design.
